The Mogalakwena Reserve is a 4,000 hectare reserve, located in Limpopo, the northernmost province of South Africa, bordering Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. This province is a mosaic of breath-taking landscapes, diverse and mystical cultural heritage and prolific wildlife, offering tourists a variety of experiences. Mogalakwena is close to the Botswana border and Tuli Block and 100km from the renowned Mapungubwe World Heritage site.
Wildlife on the Mogalakwena Reserve is particularly well habituated resulting in extraordinary close encounters and prolific sightings. The Mogalakwena River runs through the reserve, which add further dimension to the biodiversity of this area.
Mogalakwena is owned and run by the Coetsee family who enjoys sharing their passion for nature, wildlife, culture and creativity.

Mogalakwena Reserve is situated near the town of Alldays in the remote North-Western part of the Limpopo Province.
Route 1: Through Alldays
Proceed along the N1 highway (Ben Schoeman) to Pretoria and take the eastern bypass (N3) that becomes the Pietersburg/Polokwane (N1) highway. At the Kranskop toll gate continue straight towards Polokwane (N1).
As you drive into Polokwane you will stop at the first traffic circle, take the first exit. Follow the signs indicating Dendron/Mogwadi R521 and it will take you around the city centre and out towards Dendron/Mogwadi/Alldays.
Continue straight on the R521 passing Dendron/Mogwadi and Vivo towards Alldays.
As you drive into Alldays you turn right at a T-junction and immediately left again. Drive through Alldays
towards Swartwater on R572.
After 10km, turn left at the first sign indicating Tolwe onto the gravel road. Approximately 25km further you will see a sign indicating Mogalakwena River Lodge. Turn right to the lodge gate entrance (if you reach the bridge you have driven past the entrance!)
The gate is closed, but not locked. Lift up the handle, open gate and drive through. Please DO NOT forget to close again! Once you have entered through the gate, continue straight and take the road marked Mogalakwena River Lodge.
Route 2: Waterberg/Tolwe Route
Proceed along the N1 highway (Ben Schoeman) to Pretoria and take the eastern bypass(N3) which becomes the Pietersburg/Polokwane (N1) highway. At the Kranskop toll gate, shortly before Modimolle/Nylstroom, keep to the left and take the off ramp to Modimolle (10km). Follow the road through Modimolle towards Vaalwater, 60km.
As you enter Vaalwater there is a garage on your left and approximately 250m past the garage turn right towards Melkrivier (50km). At the Melkrivier T-junction turn left. Follow the road for 10km to another T-junction turn left towards Marken 36km.
At Marken, turn right at the T-junction, drive past the red bus and shop. After approximately 1,5 km further turn left following signs for Steilloop.
At the T-junction at Steilloop, turn left towards Baltimore (25 km). At Baltimore, pass a school on the left and after approximately 250m, turn right towards Tolwe (38km). Turn right to Tolwe. Travel for 2km on tar road past Tolwe on you right, continue straight onto the gravel. Proceed for approximately 37km to an intersection indicating Alldays to the right. Turn right and soon you will cross the mighty Mogalakwena River!
Approximately 600m pasts the bridge you will see the sign to the River lodge on your left.
The gate is closed, but not locked. Lift up the handle, open gate and drive through. Please DO NOT forget to close again! Once you have entered through the gate, continue straight and take the road marked Mogalakwena River Lodge.
Arriving at O.R. Tambo walk to the Domestic Departures terminal to board a SA Airlink flight to Polokwane.
From Polokwane a pick-up can be arranged.

There are two bus services going from Pretoria to Polokwane and Louis Trichardt – GREYHOUND and TRANSLUX. Before departure please ensure that you have booked a bus ticket.
Arriving at O.R. Tambo International Airport, take the GAUTRAIN to Pretoria Station. From Pretoria Station, board a bus to the two closest towns to Mogalakwena; Polokwane or Louis Trichardt.
